TEXAS IN PORTUGAL??? FIRST PHOTOS!
Hello again!
I haven't written anything for a long time.
Vacations are almost over, and on Feb 13 I will be back in Costa Rica for a whole year of work at Kèkoldi.
These 2 months in Portugal have been great! A lot of resting, traveling and specially being with my friends and family.
Kelly, a firefighter I met in Dinosaur, Colorado, has come to stay for a few days, and we visited a lot of beautiful places in Portugal and also Spain: Porto, Lisbon, Guimarães, Ponte de Lima, Santiago de Compostela, Douro... It was great!
Thanks Kelly! For getting me out of the house! I had a great time, hope you come back one day and see the rest of Europe, because you saw a VERY small part of it!
Anyone interested will be able to find me in Costa Rica for the whole of 2006. So feel free to stop by! I would be very happy to see you all again!
I leave you with some photos!
See you in Costa Rica!
Pura Vida!

Kelly by a picture of a donkey! We didn't know that around the corner there were REAL donkeys waiting for us!!! It was great!

Kelly, me and Angela (my sister-in-law and great friend) by the Guimarães Castle, the birth place of Portugal.
Here lived our first king Don Afonso Henriques. Portugal was a countship of the Kingdom of Leon (later part of Spain), until this smart guy decided not to pay any more money to the spaniards. HahaHA!
Then he inprisioned his widowed mother (who didn't agree with him and wanted to marry a spanish lord) and he then decided to start enlarging the territory going south. The pope agreed with him and Portugal was made a country in 1143!
Afonso Henriques only stopped in Lisbon conquering all that land from the muslims. His son Sancho finished the job going as far south as he could go, to the Algarve, the south coast of Portugal.

In Porto there is a very famous dish called "Francesinha" = something like frenchy???
Kelly, me, Angela and Pedro, my brother went to eat one! Normally it is made with all sorts of meat (and that's what Kelly and Pedro had), me and Angela opted for the vegetarian version. This version still needs a lot of improvements, but at least there is an option,a nd I can eat my town's famous dish!
